A statue of the classic Alien form depicted in the manner of an ancient sphinx configuration. The Alien here is presented as an erotic female alternative version with an emaciated, yet graceful body with resplendent rib-cage, vertebrae and 'Biomechanoid' detail with no expense spared. She is inspired in part by the 'runner' creature in 'Alien 3' and Greek and Egyptian sphinxes. She is in repose, but suggestive of a possible malevolence barely contained as her tongue is extended threateningly. The tongue is more in the manner of the glassy, tubular tongues as seen in Giger's original designs for the Alien and in the pages of his 'Necronomicon' book.
This a very intensely detailed, painstakingly executed cast in a dark black/silver highlights faux pewter finish with a high-gloss varnish. She is quite weighty (over 4 kgs) and is suitable for display in a subtley lighted area or a protective glass cabinet as dusting her regularly would be a specialist cleaner job, such is the intricate surface area!
Below: an inadvertent result of experimenting with thixtropic epoxy resin in an attempt to emulate the semi-transparent cowl of the original Alien. I couldn't get the desired transparency and thixotropicity, but I took photos anyway because I felt the cast in this state had the look and feel of the original film Alien.
But hey, I'm blowing my own trumpet here, what do you all think??

One day soon I will make these with the elongated 'skull' visible beneath the cowl as in Giger's original design. I may need to have the cowls vacuum-formed to achieve this effect, and I will also strive to replicate the patchy and rough, worn-look colouring on this of which I am particularly proud.
'Recreating the definitive Giger Alien tongue' - with this particular sculpture (the 'Alien Sphinx'), I strived to emulate the 'Alien Tongue' as depicted in H.R.Giger's original designs for the Alien. A more transparent, glassy and tubiform appearance in contrast to the 'tongues' in the films. To achieve this effect, I finely sculpted the tongue master in Plastiline, made a silicone mould and poured into the finished mould neat, unfilled resin (to recreate the desired semi-transparency) while simultaneously embedding a piece of stainless steel ribbed tubing. The resulting cast is as close a proximity to Giger's glassy tongue appendages as I can presently achieve.
